The Truth About Cancer Donation Event 2014

We are excited to share our experiences this past weekend as we took a journey to Austin, Texas to receive a donation check from some amazing people (Ty and Charlene Bollinger and family). We were notified after the airing of Episode 1 of The Quest For the Cures…. Continues that Cancer Crackdown would be receiving a portion of proceeds from this series! We were surprised and excited that they chose our organization and are very thankful.

On December 5th, Steve and I traveled to Austin for the check presentation ceremony. We were very excited about the trip, seeing the Bollinger family, meeting Bill Henderson, co-author of Cancer Free and newest member of our Board of Directors as well as the other wonderful non-profits and a special cancer fighter that we will tell you more about later.

We arrived at the beautiful downtown Austin hotel The Omni and greeted the crowd of people, all on this mission we are on.. how exciting!!! We had a wonderful organic lunch and enjoyed the Bollinger children, they are the cutest and sweetest group of kids, we can’t wait to see them again!! I met Suzy Griswold of Healing Strong and enjoyed learning about her survivor story and the great things she and Healing Strong are doing.

Next up.. the ceremony!!! I was so nervous and still in a little shock over the fact that I’m surrounded by all of these wonderful people in the name of our passion and dream: Cancer Crackdown!!! The ceremony was amazing, we were presented with a check for $10,000!!!

It was such an honor to receive such a gift and be next to some of the biggest cancer thought leaders and heroes in my world: Webster Kehr from the ICRF, Bill Henderson, Ty Bollinger and met some new people from great organizations that are also helping those battling cancer with natural therapies. Suzy Griswold of Healing Strong and Shannon Knight of Angels for Shannon. We also enjoyed meeting Mrs. Henderson and Sam Sadler, producer of Diagnosed TV.

It was a very special treat to meet the special guests Jared Bucey and his mom Lisa Diacik. Jared is 17 and battling late stage Hodgkin’s Lymphoma with natural therapies after chemo made him violently ill. The Bollinger’s gave him a special gift of a check and a trip to Disney for the whole family! It was a magical moment to witness. It was great to spend time with Jared and Lisa. They are quite a team, they are so brave and sharing their experiences as Kid Against Chemo to help others.

We enjoyed a delicious organic dinner with some of the group Friday evening and saw a little bit of downtown Austin, what a great city!!!

We cannot extend our thanks enough to Ty and Charlene Bollinger and their children for the sacrifices and hard work they put forth to share the truth with the world about cancer. To have their confidence and support with this donation is of the highest honor and compliment. We keep the Bollinger family members that have left before us in our hearts as we continue our mission in their memory.
